Migrate your VIP Membership to Facebook payments now!

We'll be rolling out the option to migrate your VIP Membership to Facebook payments starting July 15th.

This will be a slow roll-out and may not be available to you right now.

Please note that this option will not be available for VIP Members who have already purchased or re-subscribed through the Facebook payments flow.

Q: Why do I need to migrate my VIP membership to Facebook payments?
A: Due to a mandatory Facebook requirement, all monthly membership payments must go through the Facebook payments flow.  Your monthly VIP membership payment, which has been processed by Zynga up to now, will be processed by Facebook once you migrate to Facebook payments.

Q: How do I migrate my VIP Membership to Facebook payments?
A:  You’ll be notified to migrate your VIP Membership to Facebook payments through various channels, including in-game pop-up, home page banner, VIP section in the Marketplace etc.

Step 1: Click on the “Start Migration Now” button to initiate VIP Membership migration to Facebook payments:

Step 2: After you initiate the migration, you will see a pop-up from Facebook asking you to choose your preferred payment method

Step 3: Enter your payment information. You can choose to pay using a Credit card or your PayPal account.



Step 4: After filling in the payment details, click on “Submit” button to continue. You’ll receive a confirmation pop-up from Facebook followed by an in-game confirmation in Mafia Wars game:

The above message will confirm the successful migration of your VIP Membership to Facebook payments and you’ll receive the reward item after you are charged by Facebook on your next renewal date.

Q: I have successfully migrated my VIP Membership to Facebook payments. When will I receive the special reward item (Fishing Cat)?
A: Upon successful migration to Facebook payments, you will get a special reward item - Fishing Cat (198 Attack, 198 Defense) after you are charged by Facebook on your next renewal date.



Q: Will my VIP membership benefits remain the same post the migration?
A: Yes, all your VIP Membership benefits will remain the same. Upon migration, you will be charged the same monthly payment from your next renewal date.

Q: Which payment options does Facebook support for monthly VIP Membership payment?
A: Currently, Facebook accepts all major Credit cards and PayPal as a mode of payment for VIP Membership.

Q: Will I be charged anything extra once I migrate?
A: You will not be charged anything extra upon migration. You will be charged the same VIP Membership fee on your next scheduled renewal date.

Q: Will my monthly payment schedule remain the same?
A: Yes, your payment schedule and monthly billing date will remain the same

Q: Why is Facebook initiating a free VIP Membership trial for me? Does it mean I get a free trial till my next membership renewal date?
A: You have already paid Zynga for your monthly VIP membership, and you are entitled to continue receiving your VIP membership benefits until your next renewal date. Upon migration, Facebook will initiate a free trial for you until your next renewal date. This will ensure that you are not charged before your next payment is due and your payment schedule will remain the same.
For Example: If your VIP Membership renewal date is July 25^th 2012 and you migrate to Facebook payments flow on July 15^th 2012, you still have 10 days of active VIP membership on your account. To ensure you are not charged extra by Facebook, this period will be treated as a free trial by Facebook and you will be charged by Facebook only on July 25^th, your next VIP membership payment date.

Q: If I have purchased from Facebook before, do I need to enter my payment details again during the migration?
A: If your payment details are already saved with Facebook, you do not need to enter them again.

Q: Why do I see the VIP membership priced in a different currency on Facebook?
A: If you’ve set a preferred currency other than USD in Facebook account settings, Facebook will automatically convert the current price of the membership ($29.97) into your preferred currency.  All monthly payments will also be made in the same currency and the conversion will be based on the current Foreign Exchange rate at the time of the payment.

Q: How can I change my Credit card or PayPal details after migrating to Facebook?
A: Once you have migrated to Facebook for VIP Membership payment, you’ll need to update details of any change in Credit card or PayPal account directly in Facebook. Please follow the below steps to update your payment information in Facebook:

Step 1:
Sign in to your Facebook account and click on the drop down arrow (Next to the “Home” tab) towards the right corner on the screen and select “Account Settings”:

Click on “Payments” tab to open Payments settings and click on Manage (shown below) to change the credit card information:

You’ll be prompted to enter your Facebook password in order to proceed. Please authenticate yourself to proceed:

Click on “Edit” to edit the payment information in Facebook or “Remove” to remove a Credit card from Facebook:

You can edit the updated Credit card information in the screen followed by clicking “Edit” button:



Alternatively, you can use “Remove” option to remove an existing credit card or “Add a credit card” to add a new one:



Q: Is there a deadline to migrate my VIP Membership to Facebook payments?
A: The deadline to migrate your VIP membership to Facebook payments is 30^th of August, 2012, 23:59:59 hours PDT.

Q: What will happen if I do not migrate my VIP Membership to Facebook payments until the deadline?
A: If you do not migrate to Facebook payments by August 30th 2012, your membership will lapse into placed pending cancellation state. You will continue receiving VIP membership benefits until your next renewal date falling after 30^th August.

However, your VIP membership will be automatically cancelled on your next renewal date post 30th of August. If you do not migrate and your membership is cancelled, you will stop enjoying VIP membership benefits.

Q: The next renewal date for my VIP Membership falls before August 30^th.
If I do not migrate until my next renewal date – will my VIP Membership get renewed? 
A: You can migrate your VIP membership to Facebook payments any time before 30^th of August, 2012. If you do not migrate before your next renewal date which falls before 30^th August, your payment would be processed by Zynga and your membership benefits would remain the same.  However, you will still be required to migrate to Facebook payments before the August 30^th deadline, if you would like to keep your VIP Membership.

Q: On successful migration, will I be able to retain my progression for the additional VIP benefits (Silver, Gold, Ruby and Platinum)?
A: Absolutely, your progression for getting additional VIP benefits will be retained upon migration to Facebook payments.

Q: How can I cancel my subscription after I migrate to Facebook? 
A: Please click on “Subscription Details” button for options to manage VIP Membership:



Clicking on Subscriptions Details will fetch you the details of your subscription:



Clicking on Cancel Subscription will give you an option to cancel or retain the VIP Membership:




You can choose to keep your Subscription active or cancel the Subscription. If you choose to cancel your subscription, you can click on the “Cancel Subscription” button.

After clicking on “Cancel Subscription” button, you need to confirm the cancellation of VIP Membership by clicking on “Cancel subscription” button shown on the Facebook side:

You will receive a confirmation from Facebook that your VIP membership is cancelled and you will not receive any future VIP membership billing from Facebook or from Zynga.



An in-game confirmation will indicate the amount of time remaining (based on your VIP Membership subscription status) for the expiry of your VIP membership after cancellation is initiated.

How to Save Your Connection

The DNSChanger Eye Chart is one such tool. If the user on an infected computer goes to the site, the image on the page is displayed with a red background. If the machine is clean, the image has a green background. The eye chart will also show a red image if the home router is infected, even if the computer itself is clean.

Had your computer been infected with DNS changer malware you would have seen a red background.  Please note, however, that if your ISP is redirecting DNS traffic for its customers you would have reached this site even though you are infected. DNSChanger Doomsday

The FBI is pulling the plug on rogue DNS servers on Monday, meaning those who haven't cleaned up their computers could be stranded without Internet.

Are You Infected With DNSChanger Malware?

Is your computer infected with the DNSChanger malware? You might want to double check because come July 9, you might lose access to the Internet.

Stats released last month suggested that more than 300,000 unique IP addresses were still affected by DNSChanger, according to a Wednesday blog postfrom F-Secure. The large majority, or almost 70,000, were in the U.S.

That's down from the more than half a million computers infected earlier this year. But with 300,000 computers still at risk for losing Web access, should the FBI proceed with the July cutoff? Yes, F-Secure said.

"Sure, cutting off the DNS servers will cause some pain, but it just might be the fastest way to cure the remaining infections at this point," F-Secure noted. "And to be frank, sooner is better because these computers are vulnerable to other infections as long as they remain bots."

The problem dates back to November 2011, when the FBI seized and shut down about 100 servers that were infecting millions of computers with the DNSChanger Trojan. Infected machines had their Domain Name System (DNS) settings altered so websites would redirect to servers controlled by the criminals. The scammers reportedly earned millions in affiliate and referral fees by diverting users through those sites.

The FBI wanted to shut down the rogue servers, but if they did, infected computers would have lost access to the Internet immediately. So, the FBI got a court order to continue running the servers while people applied a patch. That court order was originally scheduled to expire on March 8, but was later extended to July 9. If infected machines are not fixed by then, their Internet connections will go dark after the servers are shut down.

In an effort to alert users to the perils of DNSChanger, Google and Facebook announced plans to display alerts to users they suspected of being infected.

How best to check for DNSChanger infections? There are a variety of options, though the DNS Changer Working Group has a quick check via dns-ok.us. If everything's clear, you'll see a green background. Those with potentially problematic connections will see a red background. Security firm McAfee has a similar website.

If you know your DNS settings, meanwhile, you can also check it out on the FBI's website.

If you are infected with DNSChanger, PCMag's Fahmida Rashid suggests that the average computer user seek the help of a computer professional to help with cleanup. For those who want to pursue the fix on their own, however, the Working Group has some suggestions for how to troubleshoot.

We are rolling out a change to the notifications system to provide you with faster updates. Currently, we generate one notification for each attack on a player, i.e. one notification for normal attack and five notifications for a power attack. We will now be generating only one update independent of the type of attack by a user(normal attack or power attack). The notification will show the cumulative damage and cash changes for the entire power attack. Batched power attacks would also be reported as a single attack.

This change will improve the notification system performance and will deliver faster updates to you.
