If you Cancelled (like many did) when you maxed out on last months VIP loot, Zynga makes you wait until your full month is up (you will see a countdown timer) before you can purchase VIP membership status again. However, if you did not cancel I have been told that you received a special loot item and an additional 12 RP’s.

This is from the Mafia Wars Team: We are gradually rolling out this feature so many of you may not be able to be a VIP member at the moment. We request your support and patience as we work to make this feature available to all our loyal Mafia Wars players.
Many players are still unable to purchase the VIP Membership… they just don’t have the option. Zynga CS, says that they are slowly rolling this out… Many players are already going into their second month – And others still don’t have the option to purchase the VIP Membership.
This is the VIP Membership popup that many players have already gotten. It tells you the basic benefits of participating in the VIP Membership.
I know that the VIP Membership feature has caused much turmoil in the MW community… For example, when Zynga would update fight loot, it used to be a fun event for almost everyone! NOW… if you are a VIP Member, this loot no longer helps you, I have heard many comments from VIP Members saying the fight loot is “worthless” and to them that is true. But it seems impossible now for Zynga to make both sides happy… If they raise the stats of fight loot to be helpful for VIP Members, then the VIP Membership would seem pointless, as far as superior loot is concerned.
Great Money Saving Tip: For those only interested in the loot, I recommend joining the VIP program in the middle of a Zynga “month”. You get two weeks to get the current set of loot, and two weeks to get the next month’s set of loot. Quit the program, wait a month, and repeat. You will get all the VIP loot at 1/2 the price of being a full-time VIP member. For example… May 15, July 15, Sept 15, etc… So you would be getting all the loot & paying for 6 months total instead of 12!!!
