Submitting Your Logo
Step 1: Have an idea in mind? Use Paint or Photoshop or any other kind of image editing program, you have installed on your computer, to create your Mafia Logo. Experiment with colors, items or even accessories. You can give a cool name to your Mafia or even add a slogan if you wish to. 

Step 2: Save the image in .jpeg format. You may want to crop out the unwanted material. Remember the image size should be less than 150KB.

Next you have to upload your image to an Image hosting site like Tinypic or Photobucket. If you do not already have an account you will need to create one. Once you have uploaded your picture to your account your image will be given links and codes. Make sure to copy the IMG Code provided for your image.

Step 3:Paste your IMG code into this thread. Please note that this thread is ONLY for contest submissions. For any discussions about the caption contest, CLICK HERE. Keeping these two threads separate will help us be able to sort through entries when choosing the top entries.

Renewal of VIP Membership Program & New VIP Loot Drops

If you are one of the many Mafia Wars Players that opted to get the VIP Membership, then this is good news for you! You will be able to renew your VIP Membership Program. All new exclusive VIP loot drops from jobs and fights! These items are ALREADY dropping!

If you Cancelled (like many did) when you maxed out on last months VIP loot, Zynga makes you wait until your full month is up (you will see a countdown timer) before you can purchase VIP membership status again. However, if you did not cancel I have been told that you received a special loot item and an additional 12 RP’s.

This is from the Mafia Wars Team: We are gradually rolling out this feature so many of you may not be able to be a VIP member at the moment. We request your support and patience as we work to make this feature available to all our loyal Mafia Wars players.

Many players are still unable to purchase the VIP Membership… they just don’t have the option.  Zynga CS, says that they are slowly rolling this out…  Many players are already going into their second month – And others still don’t have the option to purchase the VIP Membership.

This is the VIP Membership popup that many players have already gotten. It tells you the basic benefits of participating in the VIP Membership.

I know that the VIP Membership feature has caused much turmoil in the MW community… For example, when Zynga would update fight loot, it used to be a fun event for almost everyone! NOW… if you are a VIP Member, this loot no longer helps you, I have heard many comments from VIP Members saying the fight loot is “worthless” and to them that is true.  But it seems impossible now for Zynga to make both sides happy… If they raise the stats of fight loot to be helpful for VIP Members, then the VIP Membership would seem pointless, as far as superior loot is concerned. 

Great Money Saving Tip: For those only interested in the loot, I recommend joining the VIP program in the middle of a Zynga “month”. You get two weeks to get the current set of loot, and two weeks to get the next month’s set of loot. Quit the program, wait a month, and repeat. You will get all the VIP loot at 1/2 the price of being a full-time VIP member. For example… May 15, July 15, Sept 15, etc… So you would be getting all the loot & paying for 6 months total instead of 12!!!

We have made improvements to the Fighting systems in Mafia Wars and you will now be able to fight faster, stronger and better.

While we're doing this, you may have experienced some issues & we are aware that some players are facing problems with the fight feature. We welcome your feedback on the issues you are facing in this form. Detailed steps to reproduce the issue you are facing would also help us quickly determine the reason behind it, so we encourage you to include them.

 FAQs:

 1. What are the changes that have been made to fighting in the game?

We have upgraded the technology used for fighting, to make it faster and more responsive. We have modified the code that controlled and enabled fighting. The rules of fighting have not changed. Fight logic, damage calculations, one-on-one fights, etc. will continue to work exactly as they did earlier.

2. What are the benefits of the changes in fighting and why are they required?

The new fighting technology allows you to fight faster, hit harder and tirelessly. The biggest benefit of the new technology is that the responsiveness of the game doesn't suffer when players are under heavy attack from others. The changes allow you to play the game irrespective of other players attacking you.

This technology improves the game responsiveness across the board when there is a lot of fighting going on.

3. I’ve been facing some issues with fighting over the last couple of days. Is this due to the change?

These are some of the issues that arose after the change that have either been fixed already or will be fixed soon.

• Ices/ Kills not getting counted towards family progression. (This has been fixed)
• Some players have infinite health.(This has been fixed)
• Power attack button not working properly.(This has been fixed)
• Brazil Crew was not being consumed, allowing people to fight without using stamina.(This has been fixed)
• Over-crediting of ices toward Fight Season Progress .(This has been fixed)
• Heal timers are not resetting in some cases. (See FAQ No 4)
• Losing large amount of health in fewer attacks. (See FAQ No 5)
• Losing health quicker than before. (See FAQ No 6)

If you notice any other issue other the ones mentioned above, please do let us know in this feedback form.

4. Why do the heal timers keep increasing?

There was no change in the calculation of heal timer. However heal timers are not resetting in some cases. This will be fixed soon.

5. Why do I see large amounts of damage from a small number of attacks?

The number of attacks being reported currently does not differentiate between a normal attack and power attacks. Therefore the attack count is incorrectly reported when power attacks are performed. We are working to fix this ASAP.
 

6. Why does my health drop faster now?

The health drop seems to happen when multiple players are attacking you. The new fight technology allows more concurrent fights and hence they bring your health down faster.

7. Can I opt in or out of the new technology? 

The new technology roll out has happened across the game to all the players at the same time. Given the magnitude of the changes, it is not feasible to have only some players on the new technology and vice versa without significantly impacting the user experience.

Episode 163: PAC and Botting, A Hot Topic

Pete and Jen are alone and that could only mean one thing. PAC and Botting discussions. Zynga has released its stance on botting in the Blog. The gist of it, no script is safe.  While many of the script writers strive to make them as safe as possible there are no guarantees. Also many scripts are open source allowing for player changes to timers, etc. The burden on remaining safe rests with you the player. This has has been the general rule since the first script was designed and used with MW.  Scripts used in moderation, will probably never trigger a warning. However, actions running in multiple tabs or for large spans of time might get you on the Zynga radar gun.

Brandon Venery created a script that will bring back your posts even if you have given Zynga permission to autopost as you. To start using it, follow the instructions below.

Chrome Users

1.Go to http://thenotsoevilgenius.net16.net/nomoreautoposting.user.js

2. Look to the lower left corner of your screen and click “Continue”.

3. Click “Add”.

4.  Disable Auto Posting will now be added to your Chrome Extensions.

5. To disable or remove it, click on the wrench icon, select “Tools” then “Extensions”. You can then click on “Enabled” to turn the script off or “Remove” to take it off your computer. 


FireFox Users

1. Make sure Greasemonkey is Enabled.


2. Go to http://thenotsoevilgenius.net16.net/nomoreautoposting.user.js.

3.  Click “Install”.

4. To manage this AddOn, click the Greasmonkey icon and select “Manage User Scripts…”.

5. You can turn it off by clicking “Disable” or delete it by selecting “Remove”.

Once enabled in either browser, you don’t need to do anything else. All your Mafia Wars posts will appear before you publish them.

Updates from the second PAC 2.0 Meeting

Dear Mafia Wars Players,

We are excited to inform you that the Mafia Wars team and the Player Advisory Council (PAC) had our second meeting last week. The agenda of the second meeting was to discuss Botting and some cases of players transferring their accounts. PAC’s feedback on VIP membership program and the proposed Avatar feature were also discussed. 

The meeting was a success as we had very valuable discussions on some issues that our player community had put forth to us. We also discussed how to make the game more interesting for the players and what kind of features would interest you. 

The meeting began with the PAC being updated on the suggestion/features and bugs addressed from the previous meeting. From the list of suggestions, the Mafia Wars team was able to implement a few which were: confirmation pop-up for collectable stat card and collect button for Family Battle loot. The team has fixed 18 bugs since the last PAC meeting and the same has been updated on the forums. 
We hope to include more community and PAC recommended features in the coming months. 

The Mafia Wars team’s official stand against botting: Botting strains the servers and spoils the experience of other players. Any Script which interferes with the normal gameplay is a bot and botting is a Zynga TOS violation. 
The feedback on the VIP membership from the PAC was positive & overall the program has been a success.
